- How do I play Xiangqi?
- Click one of your pieces — every legal destination lights up (enemy pieces you can take get a red ring); Click a marked point to move there. Click elsewhere to cancel; Red moves first. In 1P you play Red; CANNON: slides like a rook, but to capture it must jump exactly one piece in between; HORSE: one step straight then one diagonal — blocked if the straight step is occupied; ELEPHANT: two-point diagonal, blocked at the midpoint, and can never cross the river; ADVISOR and GENERAL never leave the 3×3 palace; The two generals may never face each other down an open file; SOLDIER: one step forward, never back — after crossing the river it can also step sideways; Checkmate wins. Having no legal move at all also loses — stalemate is a defeat, not a draw; 3 CPU levels, or two players on one screen
